The Honorable Kurt S. Browning Civility and Voting Technology in Democracy - "Making Every Vote Count"Appointed Secretary of State by Governor Charlie Crist in December 2006, Kurt S. Browning acts as Florida's Chief of Elections, Chief Cultural Officer, State Protocol Officer, and the head of the Department of State.
Secretary Browning previously served for 26 years as Supervisor of Elections for Pasco County. During that tenure he served as president of the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections; as a member of Governor Jeb Bush's Task Force on Election
Procedures, Standards, and Technology; and as a member of the State Planning Committee for the Help America Vote Act.
A native Floridian, he received a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's in public administration from the University of South Florida.
